Big TV vs Airtel DTH Ad campaign

Big TV has taken the Airtel DTH’s teaser campaign and turned it into its own. They have taken the red chair to promote their own products. Now is this a good idea?

I feel that Big TV should have stuck to its own campaign in trying to establish its own positioning in the market place. Their ad will create confusion in trhe minds of the audience and who will benefit from it nobody knows. Audience could perceive the Red Chair as Airtel’s symbol and associate all the featires and selling points of Big TV as that of Airtel. I think both the brands need to establish their positioning rather than get into an ad war. I do hope that Airtel is smart enough not to get into an ad war. They should just focus on their USP that their connection will work even in rough weather because most of the players seem to have this problem. I know Tata Sky does.
